How to Share Instagram Posts From the Feed to Stories

Instagram has released a new way for you to easily share Instagram posts from your newsfeed to your story.

In Instagram’s blog post from May 17th 2018, Instagram explained:

When you come across something in feed that inspires you — like a post from a friend raising money for a cause or a photo of a new design from your favorite brand — you can now quickly share that post as a sticker to your story for your friends and followers to see.

How to share feed posts to Instagram Stories

  1. Click on the paper airplane icon under the post you would like to share to your story.
  2. Click ‘Add post to your story’
  3. You will now see the post appear in your story. Customize the post and easily share with your followers!

How to Share Instagram Posts From the Feed to Stories

Any post you share to a story will include a link back to the original post and include the original poster’s username. Only posts from public Instagram accounts can be shared to your story but you can opt-out in settings.

Hundreds of millions of users now use Instagram stories on a daily basis and this update will allow them to share any post from their Instagram feed directly to their stories.

Why should a pet business use this new feature?

You may already use stories as a way to show the public the behind-the-scenes of your pet sitting or dog walking business. It is now easier for you to share posts related to your business that can help create Social Proof.

This is another reason why engagement is important. Follow your customers on Instagram and share their posts about their pets, especially when related to your business. I would recommend getting permission before you share any of your client’s posts. Did you get a shout-out on Instagram at a local event? You can now easily share that post on your story! Share posts positively associated with your business and other posts that may be of interest to them!

This is a great way to stay current and maintain publishing quality content for your followers and prospective customers!
