Google has recently added a follow button to Google Maps. This follow button is new way for users to stay up-to-date on their favourite local businesses and places. Don’t miss another sale, event, promotion, or new grand openings! Millions of people use Google to find local places to go. Google has made two updates to make it easier for searchers to keep up with places that they care about or are interested in and about new places that are coming soon. Will this revolutionize Google My Business? Sounds like a direct competitor to Facebook Pages if you ask us.
Follow Places
If you have an Android device, you can now follow places from the Google Maps app. Your clients and potential clients will be able to “follow” your business on Google, like they do now on other social networks like Facebook and Instagram. Once someone follows a place, the will receive news and updates from your pet business. If you have a physical location, like a pet store, boarding kennel or daycare facility, you should be really excited! Events, offers and other updates will begin to appear in the “For you” tab. This feature is currently rolling out so keep an eye out. This feature is a reminder how important Google Posts. If you aren’t using Google Posts, it is time to prioritize them in your marketing now.
New Places
If you are starting a new pet business, you can get your profile setup before you open on Google Maps for Android and mobile search. Places that are opening soon can create a business profile that will appear up to 3 months before opening. This feature is currently only available is select locations on Google Maps Android. More locations and, probably iOS will be coming soon, but no announcement yet. Google recently announced the end of Google Plus, and now they launch the “follow” button on Google Maps.
